Italia finally left Stolp for Stockholm

At 3.30 am this morning the Italia left Stolp, carrying eighteen crew. All equipment has been so thoroughly tested during the long stay in Stolp, the ship loaded with provisions, and now the Italia is bound for the Arctic.

By late morning, the craft was over Stockholm – a tremendous public spectacle with crowds turning out to see the Italia. Nobile agreed to make a small diversion over Finn Malmgren’s family home in a Stockholm suburb.

By midnight, the Italia was approaching the Arctic Circle.
