The art of marionette-making is alive and well in the Czech Republic. In the next issue of hidden europe, we shall look at Czech puppetry traditions. We’ll feature the Netherlands and Slovenia and also return to the Outer Hebrides, about which we wrote last year, focusing then on the island of Harris. This time we’ll look in detail at Barra, towards the south of the Long Isle. hidden europe 52 is published on 11 July, which happens to be the Feast of St Benedict, patron saint of Europe.

Readers awaiting our cumulative index to the entire contents of hidden europe must be patient. It is indeed in preparation, but such monumental labours of love take time!
